Roaring Lion, Queensland’s very own Bob Marley tribute band, is bringing the spirit of reggae to life in Nundah this month.

The eight-piece band will be entertaining the crowd at Royal Quarters for a night of classic Bob Marley hits on Saturday, 20 July, playing fan favourites like Exodus, Could You Be Loved and Three Little Birds.

Founding member and rhythm guitarist, Wayne Naera, said Roaring Lion was excited to be back for another performance at Royal Quarters.

“We are looking forward to the positive vibes and crowd participation again,” Wayne said.

He said that in particular, the audience loved the songs from the ‘Legend’ album, including Is This Love, Redemption Song and Buffalo Soldier.

Roaring Lion was established by Wayne and his brother Glen, who shared a love of Bob Marley’s music from a young age.

“I am in my sixties now and Bob’s messages of Get Up, Stand Up, One Love, Natural Mystic, and Soul Rebel (to name a few) talks to my soul back then and still does today,” Wayne said.

When Glen returned to New Zealand in 2022 the band welcomed new lead singer Alejandro Larrandaburu. Originally hailing from Uruguay, Alejandro brings nearly 20 years of experience as a lead singer in a Bob Marley tribute band in South America.

“Last year was one of Alejandro’s first gigs with us and was well received,” Wayne said. “We were blessed to acquire his talents as our replacement vocalist for Glen’s departure.”

The band’s diverse line-up also includes members from New Zealand, the Cook Islands, the UK and Croatia, each contributing their unique talents and creativity to Roaring Lion’s sound. Lead guitarist Maui Whaanga, bass guitarist Taria Teiti, vocalists Carlee Williams and Sisilia Teiti, keyboardist Joanna Funk, and drummer Bojan Sambolec complete the band.

Earlier this year, Roaring Lion had the opportunity to open the Queensland premiere of the movie, Bob Marley: One Love.

For Wayne and the rest of the band, it was a dream come true.

“It was bucket list stuff for me and other members,” Wayne said. “We are truly blessed to have been asked to perform.”

Tickets are $25 (plus $1.95 transaction fee). To book go to avc.live/0ljj
