Brisbane is growing fast, and it takes dedicated leaders to keep our city moving, thriving, and fun. Councillor Danita Parry is one of those leaders. A local mum of two young boys and two rescue pups, Danita is deeply connected to her community. She’s passionate about making Brisbane a great place to work, live, and play.
“I want Brisbane to have more to see and do, more ways to get around, and more opportunities for our families to enjoy,” she says.
Keeping Brisbane Moving

Transport is one of Danita’s top priorities. She’s passionate about improving public transport across Brisbane, with a strong focus on the northside. One particularly exciting initiative currently underway is the business case to extend the Brisbane Metro to Chermside and beyond. The Metro has already been a game changer for Brisbane’s public transport network, transforming how our buses move through the city and making services more reliable, comfortable and efficient. Most importantly, it’s encouraging more people to leave their cars at home and choose public transport instead, a win-win for a growing, sustainable city.
Danita is also working on projects closer to home. Traffic lights are planned for the intersection of Western Avenue and Hamilton Road, to improve accessibility around the busy Prince Charles Hospital. The design is almost finalised, and she’s working with the Queensland Government to get shovels in the ground in 2026. This much needed upgrade will make it safer for residents, hospital staff, patients and visitors alike.
Improving traffic safety near schools is another priority. Danita has been leading design work and community consultation for the Kedron Safer Schools Precinct. This initiative aims to ease traffic congestion and improve safety for families living near St Anthony’s Primary School, Padua College and Mt Alvernia College.
Parks Upgrades for Families
Danita knows Brisbane families love their parks, so she’s been busy making them even better. At Frederick Annand Park in Chermside West, the basketball court will be upgraded to full size. The project includes new line markings for basketball and pickleball, plus a new post and backboard.
Keith Payne VC Park in Stafford is also getting a boost. Families can look forward to a new playground, shade structure, connecting pathways, park furniture, and safety fencing along Buddina Street. These upgrades make parks safer and more enjoyable for everyone.
Supporting Community Organisations

Danita’s commitment goes beyond infrastructure. She’s a familiar face at local sporting clubs, cultural groups, and volunteer organisations across her ward. From participating in bushcare with the Rainbow Lorikeet Bushcare Group to supporting seniors through National Seniors and Meals on Wheels, she’s active in a wide range of initiatives.
Other groups Danita supports include:
- Chermside Districts Historical Society
- QLD Family History Society
- Warehouse Cricket Association QLD
- Stepping Stones Clubhouse North
- The Kedron Wavell RSL sub-branch and Women’s Auxillary
- Stafford Garden Club
- Brisbane Inner North Lions Club
- Aspley Garden Club
- Neighbourhood Watch North Brisbane
- National Servicemen’s Association
- Stafford Men’s Shed
- Voyager Centre
…and many more. Her hands-on approach ensures local groups feel heard, supported, and connected to the wider community.
A Local Leader Who Listens

One of Danita’s key strengths is listening. She spends time talking to residents, attending community events, and understanding what matters most to the people she represents. Whether it’s a small concern about traffic or a big plan for a new park, Danita is there to advocate for her community.
“I want to make sure everyone in our ward feels supported and sees real results from local projects,” she says.
Looking Ahead
The future looks bright for Brisbane under Danita’s watch. With major public transport projects, safer roads, upgraded parks, and strong support for community groups, residents can see tangible improvements across the city.
Danita’s energy, passion, and dedication make her a standout local leader. She balances her role as councillor with family life, proving that commitment and care go hand in hand.
For those who want to get involved in local projects or simply stay informed, Danita encourages residents to reach out. Your voice helps shape Brisbane’s future, and with leaders like her at the helm, the city is in good hands.
