Aveo’s Bridgeman Downs Retirement Village has been honoured at the 2024 Restaurant and Catering Hostplus Awards for Excellence.
Chef Manager Jonathon Rose said he was thrilled to win the award for Health and Aged Care Caterer (Queensland and Northern Territory).
“I’m sure this award will put Bridgeman Downs Retirement Village on the map for its food and lifestyle offerings,” he said.
Jonathon, who has worked at Aveo for eight years, took the helm of the Bridgeman Downs kitchen and catering team two years ago.
“When I joined Bridgeman Downs, I realised the restaurant had lots of potential and I’ve been able to put my mark on the style of food service, décor and the creation of lots of events around food,” he said.
Every day, Jonathan’s team serves the 45 residents of the serviced apartments, alongside independent residents and their guests in the Curlew Restaurant, which seats 130.
Classic Comfort Food and Community Events Highlight Village Dining Experience
While there are plans for a new a la carte menu, Jonathon said the “old favourites” remained most popular.
“Residents love cottage pie, roasts, a nice piece of salmon, cheesecakes or apple and rhubarb crumble,” he said.
Community Manager Heather Hall said the residents looked forward to their meals, which were always fresh, high quality and beautifully presented.
“The catering team prepares a busy calendar of events for residents’ enjoyment,” she said. “It’s always much more than delivering exceptional food, it’s also about coming into a beautifully decorated room to enjoy social connections.”
