UK comedian Stephen K Amos, renowned for his unique and uproarious material, has been taking the Australian stage by storm with his latest stand-up show, Oxymoron.
Fans can expect an unforgettable evening of unrelenting laughter when he brings the show to Royal Quarters in Nundah on Thursday, 7 November.
Stephen said that in Oxymoron the audience could expect his hilarious take on the ever-growing contradictions of the world.
“I like to unite people with laughter – proper belly laughs!” he said. “While perhaps giving people some things to think about.
“It is a comedy show so you may need to bring spare pants in case you p*ss yourself laughing.”
A Legendary Career and Connection with Australia
With a career that spans decades, Stephen is a BAFTA-nominated and RTS award-winning writer, broadcaster, actor and comedian. He has captivated audiences both on stage and screen, appearing in notable West End productions like My Fair Lady, where he played Alfred P Doolittle and One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest. More recently, he appeared as The Conductor in Tim Burton’s Beetlejuice Beetlejuice.
Stephen has also established a strong connection with Australian audiences as a favourite at the Melbourne International Comedy Festival and featuring on popular TV shows such as Thank God You’re Here, Spicks and Specks, Good News Week and The Project.
He also appeared as a contestant on the latest season of I’m A Celebrity Australia, where he showcased his humorous resilience in the South African jungle.
This month’s performance at Royal Quarters is one of only five Queensland shows left on the Oxymoron tour, making it a must-see event for comedy enthusiasts.
“I’m looking forward to visiting a place I’ve never been to before,” Stephen said. “Enjoying the climate of beautiful Queensland and learning the precise pronunciation of Nundah. Or is it Noondah?
“I love getting into the deep historical nature of a place and discovering how culture defines it, from the original Indigenous occupants of the land to the present day. Because there’s so much we can learn from each other and to an outsider like me, every aspect of Queensland is a learning curve.”
