Get ready to boogie without the blare when Shhh Silent Disco hits the floor at Kedron-Wavell, proving that the best parties sometimes make the least noise.
On Friday, 5 September, it’s headphones on and tunes turned up, as partygoers groove their way through three decades of dance floor gold, from synthy 80s beats to 90s jams and 2000s pop anthems.
Kedron-Wavell Marketing Manager Stanton Dunn said the silent disco was a first for the venue.
“We’ve never done anything like this at Kedron-Wavell before, so it’s something fresh for everyone,” Stanton said. “Instead of speakers blasting music, everyone’s listening through their own headphones, which means the person next to you might be dancing to a completely different song. It’s a bit quirky and something you don’t see every day!
“We’re always on the lookout for new ways to keep things exciting and bring people together. A silent disco felt like the perfect choice – it’s inclusive, fun and appeals to lots of different ages.”
Throwback Tunes, Three DJs and Headphones for All
Each guest receives a pair of wireless headphones on arrival, with three live DJ stations to choose from – each spinning hits from a different decade of music.
“It’s interactive and a lot of fun – you’ll see people dancing and singing along to completely different tracks, but it still feels like one big party,” Stanton said.
“We’re going for something lively, upbeat and a little bit unexpected – the kind of night people will remember and talk about afterwards.”
Shhh Silent Disco is aimed at a wide mix of music lovers, from moonwalkers to Macarena masters. Stanton said he hoped the event would appeal to everyone.
“Partygoers who love to dance, nostalgia fans who’ll love the throwback tracks, and even people who might not usually hit the dance floor – the headphones add a fun twist that makes it easy to join in,” he said.
If the event goes well, this may not be the last time things go quiet at Kedron-Wavell.
“We’ll see how our members and guests enjoy it on the night, and if it’s a hit, we’d love to make it a regular part of what we offer,” Stanton said.
