Aspley Hornets are teaming up once again with local registered charity Aspleycare to provide Christmas hampers for families in need.
The Hornets are calling on residents to make a difference by donating non-perishable goods and other items to be included in the hampers by Sunday, 8 December.
Aspley Hornets General Manager Danni Francis said this was the third year they had worked with Aspleycare to collect items and pack hampers for local families facing hardship.
“Aspleycare works with a lot of amazing businesses to get the items donated, including Christmas presents for kids, food, drinks and decoration items that can be packaged up into hampers,” Danni said.
Suggested items include biscuits, cereals, soup, pasta, tinned fruit and vegetables, as well as festive items like Christmas puddings, cakes, mince pies, bonbons, toys and small gifts. Cash or gift cards are also welcome.
Supporting Over 200 Families This Holiday Season
Aspleycare’s Patrick Richards said as Christmas approached, they were very busy raising much-needed funds and food donations for the annual appeal.
“Aspleycare this year will provide over 200 impoverished families with Christmas hampers,” he said. “Every child and adult in the family will receive a gift along with a substantial box of food. Aspleycare needs the wider community’s help with donations to assist with this wonderful project.
“Christmas is the time of giving.”
Donations can be dropped off at reception at Aspley Hornets, 50 Graham Road, Aspley.
