The Chermside Christmas Festival is back to deck the halls with another year of fun for the whole family.

Mark your calendars for 8 December, when the Centrepoint Church car park will transform into a festive wonderland with two carol performances at 3pm and 7pm.

Laura Neil, Christmas Festival Event Coordinator, said the decision to have two showtimes was made because they had run out of space to host everything in one show.

“The 3pm show is earlier for kids and young families, but everyone is welcome to either show,” Laura said.

“We have a number of talented singers and performers from our church who will be leading us in some classic carols. Our MCs will guide us through some quick explanations of what some of these songs mean and how we can carry the Christmas spirit out into our worlds.

“We also like to include some interactive elements like games and dancing for the kids.

“We have both seats and space for picnic rugs for our indoor carols show. If you would like to sit down in the front with the family, feel free to bring along a picnic rug – we think this works well for young families with kids who might like to get up and dance and enjoy the show up close!”

Handheld LED candles will be available to provide a classic ‘carols by candlelight’ feel.

A Festive Market and Community Celebration

The community market and festival will run from 4pm to 7pm, featuring food trucks, a petting zoo, a jumping castle, face painting, a special visit from Santa and a host of kids’ activities. Market stalls will offer an array of goodies, from jewellery and accessories to honey, jams, baked goods, candles, soaps and clothing.

Laura said the festival was a great opportunity to bring the local community together for a free, family-friendly event.

“The outdoor festival always creates a fun, vibrant atmosphere with lots of laughter and conversation,” she said.

“We see lots of people bumping into each other from local schools, churches and sporting clubs and we love watching people connect with one another and enjoy the company of friends and family.

“People seem to enjoy sharing the Christmas spirit and the opportunity to be together!”
