Australia’s number one male revue is back, promising the ultimate ‘Girls’ Night Outback’.
The Thunder From Down Under, Manpower Australia, will return to Kedron-Wavell in January as part of their national tour.
As a newer face in the cast, Jimmy joins a diverse group of performers known for their sultry dance moves and down-to-earth personalities, never taking themselves too seriously.
“I’m pretty much myself on stage, but I try to lean into my strong, confident and wild side,” Jimmy said.
He added that applying to become a member of the famed troupe was a spur-of-the-moment decision.
“I applied on an absolute whim, not really expecting much back but it turned out to be a great fit,” he said.
“The audition process was a very fast and efficient, scary process initially, finding out that you’re leaving your typical nine-to-five corporate job to jump on stage.”
From Vegas to Nashville and Back Home
Manpower Australia began in a nightclub in Surfers Paradise more than 30 years ago, catering to locals and tourists. In 1993, the show made its Las Vegas debut under the name Thunder From Down Under, securing a residency at the Excalibur Hotel and Casino.
Since then, the group has become a fixture of the Vegas entertainment scene and has recently expanded with a new residency in Nashville at the Woolworth Theatre.
Marketing Executive for Manpower Australia, Taylor Gettings, said Nashville’s vibrant energy and rich musical heritage made it the perfect new home.
“We will now have a permanent troupe based on the Las Vegas strip and two touring troupes,” Taylor said.
Jimmy said the US audience was always full of surprises.
“You never know what you’re going to get since Vegas is such a popular party and tourist destination from all over the world,” Jimmy said. “It is always a fun, crazy show, however.
“We’re absolutely loving Nashville – the audiences are really curious about Australians.”
He added that he was looking forward to returning home for the Australian tour.
“Being back on home soil and especially during the summer is such a privilege,” he said. “It takes travelling across the world to realise how great we really have it.
“Kedron-Wavell was such a fun and loud show. We hope to repeat the same energy and come back with an even better show in 2025.”
