A staple on the South East Queensland calendar, the Goodna Jacaranda Festival returns this month with a new two-day format, promising a bigger and better experience for visitors of all ages.
Set against the backdrop of blooming jacaranda trees, the festival will take place on Friday, 24 October and Saturday, 25 October, at Evan Marginson Park in Goodna.
Goodna Community Association Inc president Mathew Taylor said the Jacaranda Festival had always been about family.
“Whether you’re bringing the kids for the rides, enjoying food from our amazing vendors, or relaxing under the jacarandas listening to live music, there really is something for everyone,” Mathew said.
“Our new Friday/Saturday format makes it easier to enjoy everything the event has to offer, from the Talent Quest on Friday night to the schools program on Saturday and very popular battle of the bands Saturday night.”
The festival opens at 4pm on Friday, featuring live entertainment, food trucks, market stalls, and rides, with the iconic purple blooms providing the perfect photo opportunity. Local performers will once again take the spotlight in the 2025 Quest for Talent, competing in dance, vocal, and original song categories for monetary prizes judged by industry professionals.
Festival Highlights and Details
Saturday will offer a full day of entertainment, including cultural displays, live performances, art and craft markets, food vendors, kids’ activities, and community showcases. The Jacaranda Schools Program features a wide range of ensembles, including string orchestras, concert bands, choirs, and big bands, performing on the main stage. Also taking centre stage is the Jacaranda Battle of the Bands, where local groups compete for a $1000 first prize.
Evan Marginson Park, shaded by jacaranda trees planted by work gangs during the Depression in 1932, provides a historic and picturesque setting that has attracted festival crowds for decades.
“The Goodna Jacaranda Festival isn’t just an event – it’s a celebration of community,” Mathew said. “Every year we’re blown away by the support from local businesses, volunteers, and families who make it such a success.”
Entry is $10 for adults, $5 for teenagers, and free for children under 13.
