Nundah Private Hospital, now open in Brisbane’s northside, is offering a new model of mental health care built on flexibility and empathy.

As the first iMH hospital in Queensland, it offers clinical expertise alongside tailored, person-centred care.

Amanda De Lacy, CEO of Nundah Private Hospital, said the private mental health facility recognised the value of personalised solutions to providing mental health care and support.

“This may look very different to different people, and so we offer a range of services, including day programs, day intensive programs, inpatient, and private practice,” Amanda said. “These diverse options ensure people can access support in the way that best suits them.

“From the moment someone steps into our care, we prioritise their wellbeing – not just treat their diagnosis. It is all about supporting sustainable recovery and keeping people at the heart of everything we do.”

Located in the Nundah Health Precinct, the facility brings 58 new mental health beds to the area, addressing a critical shortage across Queensland.

Its integrated model offers patients a seamless transition between hospital and home.

“In today’s mental health landscape, a one-size-fits-all approach simply doesn’t work,” Amanda said. “With flexible treatment pathways and seamless continuity between hospital and home, we’re committed to helping people heal in environments where they feel most comfortable.

“Our integrated model aims to reduce unnecessary rehospitalisations by supporting longer recovery through community-enabled care.

“At the heart of this is the Care Coordinator – a key role dedicated to guiding patients through their mental health journey. Our experienced nurses work closely with patients and families, psychiatrists, psychologists, allied health professionals, GPs, and community services to design care plans, ensuring that patients receive the right support at every stage of their recovery.”

Community Engagement and Support

With R U OK? Day coming up on 11 September, Amanda said education was the first step towards meaningful change in mental health, and helping reduce stigma.

“We’re deeply committed to engaging with the community – through education events, outreach, and conversations – to help foster understanding and support,” she said. “Our facility welcomes visitors with warmth and care.”
