A celebration of one of pop’s most beloved acts hits the stage this month with Oh What A Night! A Musical Tribute to Frankie Valli and The Four Seasons.
The musical revue, written by Motown producer George Solomon and directed by award-winning producer/director Michael Chapman, will make a stop at Kedron-Wavell as part of a nationwide tour.
Michael said that the idea for the tribute was “serendipity,” coming together just as Jersey Boys was taking Broadway by storm.
“While Jersey Boys is a dramatic biography of The Four Seasons, Oh What A Night! is a concert-style musical revue featuring all The Four Seasons’ original hits, plus many of their top-ten releases not in Broadway’s Tony award-winning show,” he said.
The audience can expect to hear classics like Sherry, Big Girls Don’t Cry, Walk Like A Man, Can’t Take My Eyes Off You and My Eyes Adored You, as well as Frankie Valli’s solo hit from the film Grease.
“Each of their songs tell a mini story that almost everyone can relate to,” Michael said. “Add to that hummable melodies and unique vocal harmonies, and you have timeless classics loved by all ages.”
Between songs, the show offers up humorous and insightful banter from the cast, who aim to capture the essence of the original group without impersonating them.
Michael said each cast member had extensive performing experience, including Broadway credits.
“And they’re all triple-threat performers who excel at singing, dancing and acting,” he said. “But most importantly, they genuinely care about each other and have camaraderie on and off stage. This creates a sense of fun and warmth that the audience feels immediately.”
Australian Tour and Event Details
The show has returned to Australia many times, and Michael said the audience always gave them a warm welcome.
“On our first tour we were told that Australia crowds might be more reserved than what we’re used to in the USA,” he said. “However, we never found that to be true. Our audiences in Australia come to the show ready to have a good time. They give us so much energy and are very vocal about their appreciation for the show. They applaud loudly and often sing along. Sometimes they even get up and dance at their seats! We feel the love and we happily return it.
“In fact, we just found out that our Australia tour promoters, Abstract Touring, are already planning our Oh What A Night! 2026 Australian tour!”
