Earrings Take Centre Stage at New Northside Market

Earring lovers, this one is for you. A market dedicated solely to earrings is heading to Wavell State High School this month, bringing 60 independent makers together under one roof.

Now in its sixth year, The Earring Market is making its first move to Brisbane’s northside on 17-18 October, with organisers choosing an indoor venue that gives the event room to grow.

Events Manager on behalf of the BrisStyle Inc Committee, Eleanor Miller, said the market was dedicated entirely to earrings.

“Wavell State High School was a great fit, giving us an indoor setting in a vibrant northside community and creating a welcoming, accessible day out for local families and shoppers,” she said.

“It really is 100% earrings! No necklaces, rings or bracelets – just earrings. That’s what makes the event so unique. We wanted to create a market where earrings could be the absolute star of the show!”

Attendees can expect stalls featuring handmade designs from small businesses across South East Queensland, with no imported or mass-produced jewellery, as every pair is created by a local maker.

Handcrafted Variety and Local Maker Spotlight

“There’s an incredible amount of variety in what our makers create,” Eleanor said. “You’ll find earrings made from resin, polymer clay, acrylic, beads, wood, silver, ceramics, crystals, leather, upcycled materials and more.

“There are also so many different styles, colours and techniques represented, from colourful statement pieces through to delicate everyday earrings. And because every maker is an independent small business, shoppers are supporting a real person and their creative business with every purchase.

“We love that The Earring Market is more than just a place to shop – it’s an opportunity to meet the makers, discover local creative businesses and buy something genuinely handmade and unique. Sixty small businesses, 100% earrings, 0% imports.”

Shoppers will also have the opportunity to purchase items from coffee and food trucks.

The event is run by BrisStyle, a not-for-profit founded by a group of Etsy sellers in 2008 with the aim of connecting independent local makers with shoppers who value handmade products.
