Bright Beginnings Child Care Centre in Chermside West is celebrating a significant milestone, as Gilda Rolston marks 30 years of service in early learning.

Reflecting on her time at the independent, family-owned centre, Gilda said Bright Beginnings was more than just a workplace – it was her second home.

“Here, I’ve had the privilege of meeting some truly special friends who’ve become like family,” Gilda said.

“I still remember the very first day I walked through those doors in my early 20s.

“At the front desk, I met Janine and Daph. I didn’t know at the time that they were mother and daughter, but I remember the way Janine’s laughter filled the room – it was contagious. And Daph, with her warm, reassuring smile, said, ‘See you soon, darls.’ That simple phrase stuck with me and made me feel so welcome. I left that day feeling happy and hopeful – and the rest, as they say, is history.”

Celebrating 30 Years of Dedication and Growth

Over the years, Gilda said she had met many wonderful families.

“Watching former children come back as parents, bringing their own babies and even relatives, fills me with pride and amazement,” she said.

She said reaching 30 years of service felt like a warm embrace.

“This milestone is so much more than a personal achievement; it is a reflection of the shared energy, the unwavering support and the collective spirit of everyone who has been part of my life here at Bright Beginnings,” she said.

“It’s amazing how life keeps evolving, but one thing remains constant – my love for living fully and embracing each new chapter.”
