Since their formation in 1968, Gary Puckett and The Union Gap have earned their place as rock and roll icons, known for their timeless music and busy global touring schedule.
The band is gearing up for its return to Australia this month, with tickets for the first Queensland show at Kedron-Wavell on 16 February selling very quickly.
Gary, who currently resides in Florida with his wife and family, said he and the band were looking forward to returning to Australia.
“Having gained many great fans Down Under, we look forward to being with them all each time we visit,” Gary said.
“The Australian audiences are great. They show respect for the artist and the music. They give appreciation for the performance. They show enthusiasm and they want to know more about the artist.
“Australia is a beautiful country and we truly enjoy its uniqueness. Plus, you make a great cuppa coffee!”
The Band’s Legacy and Timeless Hits
Gary Puckett and The Union Gap perform more than 150 shows annually to sell-out crowds. Gary’s first five album releases achieved gold status, a rare achievement in the industry. His remarkable career also includes a prestigious performance at The White House, where he entertained Prince Charles and Princess Anne at the invitation of the President.
The band’s concerts are known for showcasing a string of timeless hits, such as Young Girl, Woman, Woman, Lady Willpower, Over You, Don’t Give In to Him and This Girl Is a Woman Now.
These songs, according to Gary, continue to resonate with fans across generations because they take people back to the big band era of singers, songs and orchestras.
“I have four grandkids that are eleven, eight, five and three and they all love our music,” he said. “They oftentimes want to hear it when we get in the car together. In fact, I am hearing the songs more now that they have fallen in love with them than when we were first having the success of them becoming hits.
“We can relate to the lyrics, the melodies are simple and singable (we all love to sing along) and they are just plain, good records.”
Tickets for the show are sold out.
