The Prince Charles Hospital’s Giving Day returns this month, uniting the community in support of the staff who dedicate their lives to patient care.
Now in its fifth year, the festival-style event will take place on Wednesday, 22 October, with a goal of raising $100,000 to support hospital equipment, patient services, and research.
Chloe Nguyen, General Manager of Communications, Marketing and Engagement at The Prince Charles Hospital Foundation, said the theme for this year’s Giving Day was ‘Help care for the hospital that cares for you.’
“A great community hospital needs a great community behind it,” Chloe said. “This Giving Day, we’ll be asking supporters to help care for the hospital that cares for them.
“Whether you’re a school, community group, sporting club or local business, it’s likely your customers, staff or even your own family and friends have needed the help of The Prince Charles Hospital in Chermside.
“Through Giving Day, you have the opportunity to make the greatest impact for the thousands of patients who rely on this busy public hospital.
“Funds raised from Giving Day 2025 could help buy new equipment or enhance hospital spaces. Those funds could go towards research, or provide patient services that sit outside what public funding covers.”
How Donations Make an Impact
These services could range from comfort packs for patients in the geriatric ward to lab equipment that supports research into conditions such as lung disease and heart disease, as well as clinical equipment.
“Technological advances and the latest equipment can make a profound difference to patient outcomes,” Chloe said. “Your gift can help put that equipment in the hands of the hospital’s clinicians.”
Last year’s Giving Day helped expand the Child Life Therapy program, with a second therapist commencing in July. As a result, the program could potentially support thousands more young patients.
Chloe said that the benefits of Child Life Therapy include reducing stress and anxiety for children and families, improving cooperation, reducing complications, and enhancing family engagement.
“It also strives to improve health outcomes by leading to faster recoveries, fewer sedations, and lower re-admission rates,” she said.
To double the impact of donations this Giving Day, supporters will match contributions made on or before 22 October. Donate online here.
