The friendship that won over Australian Idol viewers is taking centre stage as winner Kesha Nevé and fan favourite Kalani Artis launch their Side By Side tour.

The duo will perform at Kedron-Wavell on Saturday, 25 October, blending Kesha’s country-pop storytelling with Kalani’s indie-folk sound in a show featuring Idol hits and original songs.

Snowy Mountains singer Kesha said she had never toured before and that it was an amazing opportunity to do it with a good mate.

“I’m excited to be able to tell my stories and to get on the road,” she said.

“(The tour) will definitely showcase that friendship and love for each other more, and the bond we have made over the show.”

While grateful for their experience on Australian Idol, Kesha said they were now “stepping out of the TV world”.

“It’s time to show everyone who we really are and hopefully get them to fall in love with our style of music,” she said.

The show will feature songs from their Idol journey, including The ClimbWhen We Were YoungPink Pony ClubDon’t Dream It’s Over and Torn. Fans will also hear their original singles, Better This Way and Winter Never Ends, performed with a full band.

A Show Built on Friendship

Central Coast singer-songwriter Kalani said audiences could expect a fun but intimate show, adding that the set list “displays a lot more vulnerability and shows our friendship and unity.”

“Through the show, me and Kesha hit it off and became close early – we’d say imagine if it was me and you in the last show, and when it happened it was a really cool and exciting moment,” Kalani said. “The audience resonated with our relationship. It gave us the idea to take that on the road and meet a lot more of our supporters.

“Ultimately, Side By Side is displaying that we are always going to be great friends.”

He added that he was grateful for his Idol experience, but hoped the audience would enjoy his original music.

“I will play a lot of Idol music on the tour, but I really hope people can connect with my writing and my experiences,” he said.

“The biggest thing I could hope for is that my music is getting through to people and people are having authentic experiences through my music.

“We are so stoked to get on the road – we loved our time off, but we are so excited to see everyone’s hometowns and explore where we can.”

Kesha said she was looking forward to connecting with audiences.

“I pride myself in putting on a show, and don’t just sing but tell a story also about a lot of the songs and why I chose to sing them,” she said.
