Musica Antiqua Collegii (MAC) will perform musical theatre classics and traditional folk melodies at its Aspects of Love concert this month.
Conducted by Lesley Brown, the choir will be joined by accompanist Kathleen Clifford and soloist Morgan England-Jones at Chermside Kedron Community Church on Sunday, 30 August.
The choir’s secretary, Rita Cooney, said they had been having fun practising for Aspects of Love.
“We will be joined by soprano Morgan England-Jones, who has been singing with us for a long time,” Rita said. “We have seen her grow musically to an exquisite soprano with a flair for opera and musical theatre.”
A Joyful Return to the Stage
Morgan said she was delighted to perform alongside MAC again.
“They’re a wonderfully warm and welcoming group, and their concerts are a return to what makes group singing so much fun – community, collaboration and great music, with ample love for each of these facets,” Morgan said.
“Attendees can expect a broad palette of styles, with a dash of good humour. MAC always manages to surprise me with a new and delightful repertoire.
“I grew up steeped in the traditions of choral singing, musical theatre and jazz, as well as more classical styles. As an opera singer by trade, I don’t get to play with these first two as often these days. Performing with MAC usually means I get to engage with all three – and it’s a real joy to return to my roots in that way.”
