Disco fans – get in the groove for a spectacular night as Europe’s Boney M. Xperience joins forces with Australia’s own FABBA for a celebration of classic hits.
The dancefloor will be heating up at Kedron-Wavell this month when the double feature show brings the Rivers of Babylon and Dancing Queen magic to life.
Edna from Boney M. Xperience said the band had been busy preparing for their third Australian tour.
“I worked with the late great Bobby Farrell for about 13 years until his passing,” Edna said. “His motto was: ‘The show must go on!’ And that’s our aim to carry on with the iconic Boney M. songs and bring back those memories to fans all over the world.
“We are so honoured to be in beautiful Australia for the third time.”
Joining Edna on stage are her daughter Fabienne, newest member Joanna, and Daddy Cools Dasilvian and Terence, who will deliver anthems like Daddy Cool, Rasputin, Sunny, Rivers of Babylon, and Ma Baker.
“Hope to see you there!” Edna said.
ABBA Meets Boney M. for a Dancefloor Extravaganza
Sharing the spotlight is FABBA, one of Australia’s top ABBA tribute acts, performing the Swedish pop group’s greatest hits.
Anthea, who plays Frida, said FABBA takes the songs that made ABBA famous and adds the comedy and theatrics of the movie and musical Mamma Mia and Muriel’s Wedding.
“The show has a lot of girl power too, so while we emulate ABBA’s costume and music, the girls run the show,” she said.
Anthea said she was nervous the first time the band toured with Boney M. Xperience, but that Edna “absolutely rocks”.
“They are the most beautiful and talented people, and it is impossible not to love their music,” she said. “They never wear the same costume more than once, so every show is a different costume. They have a lot of suitcases!
“With ABBA and Boney M. songs, it’s truly a show full of hits that has everyone up dancing every time.”
She said thanks to movies like Muriel’s Wedding and Priscilla Queen of the Desert, Australia and ABBA have a special relationship.
“You cannot stuff up a lyric with an Aussie audience because they know every word,” she said.
“ABBA music makes people feel good. Sometimes I can’t believe I get paid to dress up, pretend to be Swedish, work with my best friends and make people sing, laugh and dance – I never take that for granted.”
