All Saints Anglican Church is bringing the community together this month with a series of joyful, family-friendly events celebrating the spirit of Christmas.
This year, the church is adding something new: a free Christmas Fun Day for families on Saturday, 20 December, at the parish hall and car park in Chermside, alongside two community carols events in local parks.
Rector of All Saints Anglican Church, Fr Daniel, said Christmas could be a busy or even a lonely time for some.
“These events are our gift to the community,” he said.
“Christmas is a time for joy, hope, and togetherness, and we want everyone to feel welcome and connected, whether through singing in the park or sharing a smile over a sausage sizzle.
“Our hope is that everyone who comes along will leave with their hearts a little lighter and their spirits lifted by the true meaning of Christmas.”
The Christmas Fun Day will feature a magic show, face painting, a sausage sizzle, a petting zoo, and Christmas carols.
The All Saints Choir, with instrumental accompaniment, will lead the singing at Carols in the Park on Sunday, 7 December at Frederick Annand Park in Chermside West and Sunday, 14 December at John Patterson Park in Chermside. Both events will include a free sausage sizzle.
A Tradition of Community Connection
Fr Daniel said everyone was warmly welcome to attend.
“These relaxed outdoor gatherings offer a wonderful opportunity for people to sing the songs of Christmas together in the open air,” he said.
“The community carols have been a cherished part of Chermside’s festive season for a number of years. Each year, they draw people of all ages to celebrate the message of Christmas – peace, love, and goodwill to all – in a relaxed and joyful setting.
“Organised by the dedicated volunteers of All Saints, these events reflect the church’s mission to share God’s love in word and action, offering friendship and belonging to the wider community.”
In addition to the carols and Fun Day, All Saints Anglican Church will host its free Christmas Day Lunch for singles at 11.30am in the parish hall. RSVP is essential by phoning 3359 2062 or emailing office@allsaintschermside.org.au
The church will also hold a Christmas Family Service at 6pm and a Midnight Service at 11pm on Christmas Eve, followed by a traditional Christmas Day service at 8am.
