Interwoven in sweet accord, the Choral Showcase is an upcoming ticketed event (pricing is free) that brings together the most melodious voices from three colleges in the local area.
Students from St Anthony’s Catholic College, Mount Alvernia College and Padua College will present their 2024 repertoire, which is expected to range from classical choral pieces to contemporary hits.
Emma Velthuis, Head of Engagement, Marketing and Communications at Mount Alvernia College, said audiences could expect a showcase of the student’s remarkable musical abilities.
“Some ensembles may perform songs they previously performed at the Queensland Catholic Schools and Colleges Music Festival (QCMF), while others will debut new material,” Ms Velthuis said.
Ms Velthuis said the Choral Showcase, now in its third year, had quickly become a highlight for all three North Brisbane-based school communities brought together for a special evening in Kedron.
“The event has already established itself as a cherished tradition, uniting students, parents and faculty for an evening of outstanding vocal performances,” she said.
Celebrate Community Voices at the 2024 Choral Showcase
According to Ms Velthuis, the Choral Showcase was born from a desire to share students’ talents with the broader community, offering an opportunity for each school to shine individually while celebrating a collective unity through song.
She said that the Choral Showcase was more than just an evening of performances – “it is a celebration of who we are as a community.”
“The showcase allows families from all three communities an opportunity to come together to celebrate the incredible talent and effort these students put into their craft,” Ms Velthuis said.
The evening includes a special mention to music teachers and choral accompanists across all three schools, without which, according to Ms Velthuis, the event could not happen.
“Their dedication and passion for music not only enhance the performances of our choirs but also inspire and nurture the talents of all the students,” Ms Velthuis said.
Ms Velthuis invited everyone to come along to support the students and enjoy a night of beautiful music.
The event is free, but in order to secure your spot for the night, tickets must be purchased at Humanitix website.
