Writers, don’t miss this golden opportunity to connect, exchange ideas and gain essential resources in a welcoming, supportive environment.

The 2024 Writers Group Convention is taking place this month at Northgate Hall, with four esteemed local authors sharing their valuable writing guidance.

Convenor Gillian Lloyd said she encouraged all writers to attend and learn from the experts.

“We’ve brought together professionals from the writing world to provide you with inspiration and motivation,” she said. “Whether you are a member of a writing group, looking to find one, or happy as a solo writer, this unique event is for you.”

Among the speakers is Jo Skinner, a GP and author, with a recently released debut novel The Truth About My Daughter.

Her presentation, Writers Need Readers Need Writers, addresses the importance of reaching out to readers, even for the most introverted writers.

“After all, a book, however brilliant it is and however gorgeous the writing, only comes to life when it is read by others,” she said.

‘Words are one of the most powerful ways we can connect to others if we are prepared to take a risk and make ourselves vulnerable.”

She said she couldn’t wait to meet everyone at the convention.

“I don’t think I have ever gone to a writing event and not come away feeling inspired, hopeful and enthusiastic about life,” she said.

Other guest speakers include authors Lauren Daniels, Sarah Williams and CT Mitchell.

Tickets $22. To book, go to ticketebo.com.au/wgc2024.
