PCYC Zillmere’s 10-week Get Set for Work program, funded by Skilling Queenslanders for Work Initiative, is changing lives by giving young people the confidence, skills, and support they need to move forward with purpose.
Designed for 15 to 19-year-olds who are no longer enrolled in school, the program focuses on helping participants become work-ready while also building lasting life skills that extend far beyond employment.
Through hands-on learning, practical experiences, and tailored support, participants develop essential employment skills, such as communication, teamwork, time management, and problem-solving.
Real Impact and Ongoing Support Beyond the Program
Sophia Walker, Program Coordinator – Get Set For Work, said they had seen many participants successfully achieve their employment or study goals, while others reach deeply personal milestones.
“Every journey looks different, and that’s exactly what makes the program so powerful,” she said.
“This is not just about getting a job. It’s about preparing for the future, building resilience, and empowering young people with the skills and confidence to create a life they’re proud of.
“What truly sets this program apart is the connection we build with each participant. Long after the program ends, we continue to hear from them, sharing updates about new jobs, further study, personal achievements, and life wins both big and small. These ongoing relationships are a testament to the trust and impact created during the program.”
The PCYC offers a rolling enrolment with the next program starting from 28 January. They encourage anyone who knows a young person who could benefit from this program to get in touch with their team today by calling 0498 565 582, 3633 0244, or emailing GSFWZillmere@pcyc.org.au
