Coda is bringing a European-style wine bar and café experience to Chermside, with a focus on relaxed, social dining from morning through to evening.

Owned by mother and daughter duo Jordan Caroline and Donna Willis, Coda reflects a shared passion for hospitality and entertaining.

Jordan said the venue had been shaped by a long-held idea to create a neighbourhood wine bar.

“Coda has been many years in the making, a combination of my mother’s love for entertaining and a dream I’ve had of owning a wine bar since I was 19,” Jordan said.

The venue was designed to reflect a more relaxed, social approach to dining throughout the day.

“We really love the dining culture of Europe, and how it’s not just about eating and drinking, but it is a relaxed social experience,” Jordan said.

“In the morning, our menu has a classic cafe feel to it, and we have a cabinet with freshly baked sweets.

“From lunch through the evening, our menu features seasonal Mediterranean-inspired snacks, share plates and mains best for sharing.”

The menu changes regularly to reflect the seasons, with a focus on smaller share plates designed for a more flexible dining experience. These dishes form a core part of the offering, with options such as stracciatella with figs, jamon and rocket, bresaola carpaccio and meatballs with sugo and mozzarella, encouraging guests to sample a range of flavours across the menu.

The venue also offers more than 40 wines by the glass, including a selection available through self-service Enomatic systems, allowing guests to explore a wider variety of wines at their own pace.

Jordan said the wine offering and overall experience had been designed to give guests more flexibility and comfort.

“Because of this, we are able to open some really exciting wines you normally couldn’t get by the glass,” she said. “It’s a relaxed atmosphere where people can settle in and feel comfortable staying a while. The hospitality is warm and the music isn’t so loud that you can’t hold a conversation without yelling.”

Thursdays are Locals Night, with pasta specials and a glass of wine for $35. Aperitivo hour runs from 12pm-5pm on weekdays and 12pm-4pm on Sundays, with $15 cocktails, $3 oysters and a selection of snack specials.
