Cooler days are a welcome chance to slow down and enjoy getting out and about around Chermside without the humidity and heat. Whether you’re in the mood for something active or a more relaxed outing, there are plenty of easy ways to make the most of the changing seasons without travelling far.

Get On Your Bike

One of the best ways to enjoy a cooler day is along the Kedron Brook Bikeway, a nearly 20 km shared walking and cycling path running from Mitchelton to Nundah. With a mix of shaded stretches, parks and picnic areas along the way, it’s an ideal spot for a relaxed walk or ride with the family. If you want to extend the adventure, the route continues from Nundah as the Jim Soorley Bikeway, with connections toward Nudgee Beach and the Boondall Wetlands Bikeway.

Explore the Local Bush

For something more relaxed, the Downfall Creek Bushland Centre is well worth a visit. Set within natural bushland, it offers peaceful walking tracks, an education centre and the chance to learn more about local native plants and wildlife. With a playground, BBQs and toilets on site, it’s an easy place to slow down and make a day of it.

Go On A Playground Crawl

The cooler weather is the perfect opportunity for a park crawl. Start at 7th Brigade Park, with its open green spaces, climbing net, swings and stepping stones. Then head to Kidspace Playground, a popular family stop with adventure-style play equipment for a range of ages, plus a kids’ bike track complete with road markings and traffic signs. Finish at Bradbury Playground, a destination playground built around a giant fort with a colourful slide.

Enjoy Local Council Activities

For those keen to stay connected with the community, Brisbane City Council often runs guided walks, fitness sessions and workshops in local parks and community spaces, with activities available for all ages.

If you’re looking to wind down after your adventures, why not enjoy a relaxed meal or drink? Venues such as Geebung RSL and The Sporting Globe Chermside offer easy, family-friendly options to round out the day.

Cooler days don’t mean staying in – they’re a perfect opportunity to get outdoors and enjoy the adventures right here in our own suburb.
